Get Out of Your Own Way By Dave Hollis
I recently finished reading Get Out of Your Own Way by Dave Hollis, and now I’m reading his wife’s book Girl, Wash your Face. Reading Dave’s book first is probably slightly out of order for a 30-something year old woman raising small children, but I to be honest I accidentally stumbled upon his book and the title all on its own caught my attention. I didn’t put it together that he was the husband of the author of Girl, Wash you Face, which had been on my radar to read.
I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I do think that the book was likely more intentionally written to men though it easily applies to both sexes. I enjoyed the author’s honesty and desire to be challenged while still being afraid of it in his work. He was also very raw about topics that aren’t always easy such as struggles in his marriage and his use of alcohol to numb and cope with things. This book was highly relatable for this working mama that often struggles to keep it all together. The book made small references to a Christian God all while being motivational and fun to read. As I shared in a previous post my “reading” at this point in my life is all through audio books so it is far to say that at times I may be more distracted than during traditional reading. Because of this rereading material isn’t uncommon for me, and this is a title that I would likely reread for fun and motivation.
