January Declutter Calendar Coming Soon!
Hey everyone! I’m working on a January Declutter Challenge calendar! My goal is to share a calendar with you for daily items to declutter in about 15-minutes per day! These will be items that most everyone will be able to get rid of at least a few items daily! I am working through it right now with a friend of mine as the guineapig! Drop your email address in the subscribe information at the bottom and I’ll be sure to get you more information about it! I plan to share photos, directions, ideas on what to do with the clutter, and YouTube videos to work through this together! See if…

Minimal Packing for a Family Trip: Less Stuff and More Fun
Minimal Packing for a Family Trip: Less Stuff and More Fun I used to be a chronic over packer! I can remember lines at the airport where I was unzipping my overly stuffed suitcase and taking items out just to jam them into an already full carry-on bag. All of this to try and get the weight on my suitcase to an acceptable level! The first time I flew with my husband we were headed to Mexico for an all-inclusive 7-day trip, and I had over 55 pounds of stuff with me! Just me! Not me and him! I can remember getting a little nervous as we got to the…

Still Getting Hung-Up Decluttering? It Happens!
As far as I’ve come, I still get hung up…I guess I’m saying this to make sure that we are all giving ourselves grace and asking the right questions to weed out the hard stuff. I have gotten rid of thousands of items, literally thousands, but this past weekend I got hung up by a 12-year-old pair of shorts. Yep! A 12-year-old pair of shorts. These shorts are still cute (to me), they are a classic look, they still fit, and are still in good shape. As a matter of fact, I have two pairs of these shorts. One black pair and one blue pair. I love the blue pair. …

A Kick in the Butt…
Well, I haven’t posted on here in so long that I forgot how to login! Pitiful right? Sorry if you previously signed up hoping for new and exciting content and were let down! But I’ve made a promise to myself and my readers to do better. To be better. I am committing to posting at least weekly for the next six weeks and then hopefully even more frequently! I look forward to sharing my favorite recipes, books, and moments with you all. Today I am writing to be honest and ask for forgiveness for not being active and to just let you know that I’ve been struggling. Being a…

My First Time with Trader Joe’s Peppermint & Tea Tree Shampoo Bar
Photo credit: Trader Joe’s Website, link below I am so excited to share with you my first experience using a shampoo bar! I have dappled with different shampoo options for a few years now. I’d love to say it’s completely to save water, use less plastic or overall just reduce my footprint, but it’s mostly because I’m lazy! I don’t mind washing my hair…I just hate everything that follows! Detangling, combing, drying, styling, you know the drill! With my long hair it’s always a chore! Currently, I wash 2-3 times a week. It’s usually two and on wash day it desperately needs it! My goal is to have healthy hair and to get to wash day without…

A Life Up-Tweak
Do you ever get the feelings that life needs to be re-worked, tweaked or that a jumpstart might do it good? I’m struggling with this feeling right now, and whether it’s because of quarantine and COVID-19 or extra stress or a combination of things it doesn’t really matter. What does matter is that I need to do something to shake it. After mulling it over I’ve decided on a few things to try to uncomplicate life. I want to make it feel like there is time for family and rest, and for me. Yep… I said it. I’d like some time for just me and to relax how I see fit. So for the upcoming week I…

The Year of Less By Cait Flanders
At the end of March, I found myself in a full house, with a long list of expectations (some of them self-inflicted), hunkered down in quarantine. I desperately needed something for my mind. I was trying to maintain balance as I tried to work from home, take care of the kids and the house, be a decent wife and stay sane. As all of this was happening, I stumbled upon the book The Year of Less by Cait Flanders. The book immediately appealed to me as I have been pursuing a life of less for a few years now. I was excited to read it and I jumped right in. Cait Flanders shares much of what…

Crap Baskets: Family Organization
Our family of five lives in a home that is spread over three smaller levels. Two of the kids downstairs, my husband and I on the main level, and our youngest daughter upstairs. This makes for strong legs and many trips up and down or sometimes launching stuff that’s been abandoned to the end of the stairs and praying someone else will pick it up when they walk by…the launch and pray rarely works here! Enter life changing “Crap Baskets.” You may want to come up with a better name. I will admit that I regretted naming these crap baskets when our children also started calling them crap baskets. The concept of a crap basket…
