Too Much Tech: A Family Experiment Update

Hey everyone! I hope that your family is doing ok through quarantine! We are holding up, and we are starting to prepare for things to open back up, as our governor is releasing guidelines for the state.  So, we’ve been doing “Tech Free Tuesday’s” for at least a month now and I’m glad to report it’s actually going well (anyone hear the surprise there?)!   If you missed the first post explaining more about Tech Free Tuesdays you can read it here https://typeaeverything.com/too-much-tech/ and then come back to read about the update! First, I need to explain that we decided to do Tech Free Tuesdays, but we have been doing them on…

The More of Less By Joshua Becker

Mid-April has arrived, and the weather has started to warm up! Things are starting to turn green or at least think about it and I find myself still quarantined while enjoying the easy going days of nowhere to be and nothing to buy! I know that some are starting to think about Spring Cleaning and that people across the country are using this quarantine time to finish projects and clean things out!  So I thought, what better time to share with you one of the books I’m currently reading?  The More of Less: Finding the Life You Want Under Everything You Own by Joshua Becker.  I am still reading this one, but I’m…

The Year of Less By Cait Flanders

At the end of March, I found myself in a full house, with a long list of expectations (some of them self-inflicted), hunkered down in quarantine. I desperately needed something for my mind.  I was trying to maintain balance as I tried to work from home, take care of the kids and the house, be a decent wife and stay sane.  As all of this was happening, I stumbled upon the book The Year of Less by Cait Flanders.  The book immediately appealed to me as I have been pursuing a life of less for a few years now.  I was excited to read it and I jumped right in.  Cait Flanders shares much of what…

Too Much Tech: A Family Experiment

Does anyone else love technology and the parts of our lives that it makes easier? I know I do. I have read about people that ditch their microwave or delete all the apps off their phones, and this is great. I just don’t think my family is quite there yet. Yesterday we had a “clean out the fridge” night for dinner where everyone made their own plate of leftovers and the microwave was the star of the show!  And life without google maps, might literally mean I could never go anywhere new!  As a family, we have drastically cut down on the TV being on. Our family of five might turn the…

    Crap Baskets: Family Organization

Our family of five lives in a home that is spread over three smaller levels.  Two of the kids downstairs, my husband and I on the main level, and our youngest daughter upstairs.  This makes for strong legs and many trips up and down or sometimes launching stuff that’s been abandoned to the end of the stairs and praying someone else will pick it up when they walk by…the launch and pray rarely works here! Enter life changing “Crap Baskets.” You may want to come up with a better name.  I will admit that I regretted naming these crap baskets when our children also started calling them crap baskets.  The concept of a crap basket…
